“Hope” dance show at the Ílhavo Cultural Center

“Hope” dance show at the Ílhavo Cultural Center
A hundred dancers will dance “a cry of warning and a whisper of hope”, alerting the public to the urgency of changing behaviors

“Hope” is the name of the annual show by the dance school FulldanceStudio, based in Ílhavo, which is presented to the public on Saturday. There will be two sessions, at 3 pm and 9 pm, at the Casa da Cultura de Ílhavo, where “Hope” is presented by a hundred students from the school, with general direction by Filipa Peres. The show is choreographically oriented by the school’s teachers: Filipa Peres, David Esteves, Inês Teles, Inês Quintela and Athos. Regarding its content, Filipa Peres tells Diário de Aveiro that the story takes place “at a time when planet Earth is crying out for balance”, inviting the audience to reflect on its beauty, strength and fragility. Through movement, music and emotion, “we explore the history of a world in constant transformation, marked by pollution, global warming and environmental degradation. But also inhabited by hope”.

In the show, the four elements: air, earth, fire and water gain body and soul, representing the natural cycles that sustain life, but which today face imbalances caused by human action. «At the center of this universe, one figure remains firm: the tree. Symbol of life, of the connection between the sky and the ground, of the roots that hold us and the branches that free us. The tree guides us, silent but present, reminding us of the importance of caring, protecting, and being reborn». According to the choreographer and director of the school, “Hope” is a danced appeal, a cry of alert and a whisper of hope so that, together, we can once again hear the beating of the Earth’s heart.
